TEHRAN – Winners of the 11th Asma-ul-Husna Poster Exhibition, displaying typographical works featuring the names of Allah, were honored at the Iranian Artists Forum on June 18, 2015.
The first award was given to Mohsen Jafari, the second to Sorush Naderi and the third to Farhud Moqaddam, Persian media reported on Saturday.Several other artists including Hossein Chamankhah, Sajjad Sabur, Mahyar Qalami and Alireza Beitollahi were also honored.
Speaking at the ceremony, researcher on art and aesthetics Ali Rajabi said, “The Holy Quran is our religious culture and it is the best means to reach the truth. This Holy Book is a reminder of what we know and have forgotten.”
“Artists and calligraphers must be aware that they must pay due attention to the characteristics of God mentioned in the Holy Quran in their artworks in order to avoid deviation,” he explained.
“In the world of art especially the visual arts, the first condition is that the artist producing artworks for the names of Allah must have an understanding beyond ordinary observation and when he feels attached to the names of Allah, his hands, ears, eyes and all his being will be emotionally involved in Allah,” he explained.
The eleventh edition of this exhibition of Asma-ul-Husna proves that artists try to keep their artworks for the name of Allah and this is quite clear in the posters, paintings and miniatures on display at the exhibit.
The exhibit, which opened on Thursday, will run until July 16 at the forum located on Musavi St., off Taleqani Ave.
